Description: These oil painting classes will emphasize working quickly and completing at least two paintings in 4 to 6 afternoons. We will be using a direct approach, which the impressionists called “Alla Prima,” or “all at once.” Your completed paintings will have a fresh, spontaneous feel. We will be working from your photos (or mine) for reference and inspiration, and not just to “copy.” You will create new, unique, beautiful works of art! Technique, composition, color and values will all be addressed, as a group and individually. This class is for all levels of painters. I will be doing several quick demos, as well as giving, frequent, constructive class critiques.

Description: French Escapade Workshops has invited Victoria to teach “Painting and Sightseeing in the Provence” an 8-day oil and watercolor painting workshop. Discover why Provence has been an inspiration for thousands of artists like Van Gogh, Cezanne, etc. Our small group of only 7 students will be staying in an elegantly restored farmhouse dating from the XVIIth century located in the heart of Provence, Luberon. Each room has a full private bathroom.

Day 1 We start our trip with a champagne welcome reception after we are picked up at the Avignon Train Station. We will have time to explore the village and get settled in the guest house before our gourmet dinner.

Day 2 is painting the beautiful Ochre hilltop village of Roussillon, where the reddish pigment has been used by artists for centuries.

Day 3 will be painting the market and hilltop village of Gordes with panoramic views across fields, vineyards and forests.

Day 4 is Palais des Papes (the 14th century Pope’s Palace) in Avignon where we will also find shops and museums to browse.

Day 5 is a day to paint at our guest house or in the cute but non touristy village of Luberon.

Day 6 we will paint on the Van Gogh’s Trail in St. Remy de Provence, an emotional walking trip that inspired the great impressionist which ends in the beautiful old monastery of St Paul Mausole and the bedroom where Van Gogh stayed.

Day 7 will be the village of Venasque: A true artistic gem with views, interesting streets, houses and a medieval rampart to paint.

Day 8 is our departure day. After our breakfast together we will be driven to the Avignon train station.
