IMPRESSIONIST OIL PAINTING CLASSES starting August 30, 2011

Location: Sacramento Fine Arts Center.

Description: These oil painting classes will emphasize working quickly and completing at least two paintings in 4 to 6 afternoons. We will be using a direct approach, which the impressionists called “Alla Prima,” or “all at once.” Your completed paintings will have a fresh, spontaneous feel. We will be working from your photos (or mine) for reference and inspiration, and not just to “copy.” You will create new, unique, beautiful works of art! Technique, composition, color and values will all be addressed, as a group and individually. This class is for all levels of painters. I will be doing several quick demos, as well as giving, frequent, constructive class critiques.

Start Time: 12:30-3:30pm

Date: Tuesday, starting August 30, 2011 for 4 weeks

Class Fee: $120. Class size limited to 12

Good things take time…and this website seemed take a long time. I wonder why? Could it have been that I was traveling and painting close to 4 months in 2009? Let’s see, trips to North Carolina, Idaho, Oregon, and then there was that workshop I taught in Italy along the Amalfi Coast and all the great plein air painting in the wonderful state of California! Actually I’m so glad to be home with my husband! Finally taking the time to re-do my website with his wonderful guidance and also the work of my son, Levi who is my webmaster. See his website at Use All Five, Inc. I also need to mention my other son Brandon, who has been helping with my bookkeeping!

I feel both proud and blessed to have them for sons and Rich for a husband! I’m also very grateful for all my many teachers, students, friends and family that support my crazy wonderful artist’s life. I can’t imagine not being an artist. What a gift it is to take the time to see the beauty around me and try to capture some of it on canvas. I hope you enjoy my new website I will be adding to it and will also be able to share new work faster. Let me know what you think!

Victoria Brooks Selected For National Oil And Acrylic Painter’s Society (NOAPS) Signature Artists’ Guild!

By virtue of her professional success and “consistent excellence” Victoria was honored during an official induction held on Saturday, November 5, 2005. She attended the NOAPSociety National Convention, Award Ceremony, the formal Reception in Osage Beach, Missouri, USA. This honor means that Victoria Brooks will be joining the “creme de la crème” of artists representing NOAPS to the international art community. A Signature Artist Member is entitled to use the initials NOAPS following a signature on a painting, prints and reproductions of original work.

Victoria Brooks Selected For American Impressionists Society (AIS) Signature Artists Status!

In 2007 The American Impressionist Society (AIS) designated Victoria Brooks for the honorable Signature Membership status. As a Signature Member she is entitled to use the initials AIS following a signature on a painting, prints and reproductions of original work. This honor means that Victoria will be joining the premiere artists representing AIS to the international art community.
