Description: These oil painting classes will emphasize working quickly and completing at least two paintings in 6 afternoons. We will be using a direct approach, which the impressionists called “Alla Prima,” or “all at once.” Your completed paintings will have a fresh, spontaneous feel. We will be working from your photos (or mine) for reference and inspiration, and not just to “copy.” You will create new, unique, beautiful works of art! Technique, composition, color and values will all be addressed, as a group and individually. This class is for all levels of painters. I will be doing several quick demos, as well as giving, frequent, constructive class critiques.

Start Time: 12:30-3:30pm

Date: Tuesday, starting October 5, 2010 for 6 weeks

Class Fee: $175. Class size limited to 12

]]> Location: The Frank Bette Center for the Arts is located in the heart of the beautiful island city of Alameda, California. There are endless painting possibilities within Alameda’s historical architecture, urban landscape, waterways and San Francisco Bay Views.

Description: Victoria Brooks will be teaching this impressionist oil painting workshop on location and in the studio. She will be emphasizing working quickly to simplify the landscape and capture the ambiance of the area. Your completed paintings will have a fresh, spontaneous feel. Victoria will address choice of subject, technique, composition, color and values. She will give several quick demos as well a frequent constructive class critiques. This class is for all level of painters.

Start Time: 9:00am-4:00pm

Date: Saturday and Sunday August 7 & 8, 2010

Class Fee: $195. Class size is limited to 12.
