Historical Native American Women Portraits

Victoria is passionate about her portraits of Native American women.  In this series she uses black and white photos from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s as her reference.  Victoria’s goal is to capture their personality and beauty.  Using a limited palette of only 5 colors she strives to retain an antique look.  She then applies silver and gold gilding to accentuate their beauty and bring their spirit alive.

Victoria Brooks’ new series of Gilded Historical Native American Women Portraits is designed to not only show their beauty, but to bring awareness to the crisis that Native American women face.  Native American women go missing at exceptionally higher rates than the national average.

Victoria hopes this inspires you to become aware of the blight of modern Native American women who go missing at exceptionally higher rates than the national average.  To learn more visit: www.NIWRC.org
